Cheque presentation to St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph

This cheque is part of a donation from the ICCM Recycling of Metals Scheme.

The hospice was chosen as this year it celebrates it’s 23rd anniversary providing specialist palliative care to their patients within the 8 bedded inpatient unit, soon to be upgraded to 12 , and support for those with life limiting disease via Day Therapy. They aim to offer a complete philosophy of care to the patients and their families which includes spiritual and psychological support as well as taking care of their physical needs. All services are offered free of charge to those who need them but are obviously not without cost. To run the hospice for a year costs £1.6m but they receive just 18% from statutory sources so they rely heavily on fundraising events to raise necessary funds. This is especially true when their running costs are about to rise with a new build and extension to their services.
